Tree Removal on Peachtree City's Southern Border

Senoia sits in southeastern Coweta County and shares its northern border with Peachtree City. Rev. Francis Warren Baggarly made the first permanent settlement in 1860, the town took the name Senoia in 1864, and it was incorporated on December 12, 1866. Its preserved downtown played Woodbury in the third season of “The Walking Dead,” which filmed at Riverwood Studios on about 140 acres outside town. The 2020 Census counted 5,016 residents, and the established streets around downtown carry the mature tree canopy that comes with a town of that age.

Trees & Storms

Old Trees Beside Old Houses

Big, old trees next to old houses are where most of the risk sits. UGA Extension points out that large, older trees often carry internal rot, frequently started by poor pruning such as topping or leaving stubs, and that there is no cure once decay sets in. Coweta County's pines have also been under pressure: the Georgia Forestry Commission's Coweta office reported record pine beetle numbers in 2023. Between those two problems, the first job on a Senoia lot is usually telling a sound tree from one that is quietly failing.

How We Help Senoia Homeowners

Typical Senoia jobs include a declining oak or pine beside an older home, storm-broken limbs over a roof, and stump grinding where a front-yard tree has already come out. Rigging and cleanup are planned around tight streets and close neighbors.

Local Tree Rules

What Senoia's Ordinance Covers

Senoia's tree preservation article, dated July 2002, applies to land disturbance permits, building construction, and timber harvest, and it states outright that it doesn't regulate individual properties needing none of those. So an existing home taking down a yard tree usually needs no city permit. Protected and specimen trees on development sites are another matter, though a protected tree that is irreparably damaged and hazardous is exempt. If you're also building, adding on, or grading, check with the city before any tree comes down.

A Crew Senoia Can Count On

Tidy Work on Historic Streets

Senoia's older streets put trees close to porches, sidewalks, and the house next door, so pieces come down on ropes and the street is swept before the truck leaves.

Right Across the City Line

Senoia and Peachtree City touch, so an estimate here is an easy one to fit into the week.

Front-Yard Stumps Finished Off

Where a front-yard tree is already gone, grinding the stump below grade lets the lawn or a new planting bed take the spot, and the stump itself needs no permit.
