Serving Newnan, Georgia
Tree work for Newnan, the Coweta County seat, from its historic streets out to I-85.
Coweta County
Newnan has been the Coweta County seat since it was incorporated on December 20, 1828, and its motto, the City of Homes, fits: the city was largely spared during the Civil War, so much of its antebellum architecture still stands. It sits about 40 miles southwest of Atlanta and roughly 13 miles from Peachtree City, with I-85 running along its eastern side at exits 41, 44, and 47. The 2020 Census counted 42,549 residents, up from 33,039 in 2010, and the older neighborhoods keep the big trees that grew up with those houses.

Trees & Storms
Newnan knows what wind can do to a canopy. Overnight on March 25–26, 2021, an EF-4 tornado with peak winds near 170 mph crossed the city, reaching about 1,850 yards wide near Newnan and damaging western Newnan, Newnan High School, and the downtown area before crossing I-85. Trees fell across roads and onto homes, and the storm stayed on the ground for about 39 miles. If a tree on your lot lost its top or a major limb that night and is still standing, it deserves a closer look, and Coweta's 2023 record pine beetle outbreak has added dead pines to the list.
Typical Newnan jobs include a large tree close to an older home, storm-damaged or beetle-killed pines, and trimming over roofs and driveways on the tree-lined streets. One written estimate covers removal, stump grinding, and cleanup.
Local Tree Rules
Newnan rewrote its Tree Conservation and Landscape Ordinance in February 2022. It applies to land disturbance activities and to annexation, rezoning, and subdivision plats, and the city landscape architect reviews tree plans on those sites. An existing home on an existing lot usually isn't covered, so taking down a tree in your yard typically needs no city permit. Grading for an addition or a pool can change that, and in that case we confirm with the city before quoting.
Older Newnan homes often stand close to big trees, so the plan is pieces on ropes, a mapped drop zone, and nothing landing on a porch roof.
Newnan is about 13 miles from Peachtree City, and a tree on a roof or across a driveway goes ahead of routine work.
For a pine hit in Coweta's beetle outbreak, the forestry commission's advice is removal, along with a buffer of nearby trees, rather than waiting to see if it recovers.
