Fayette County

Tree Removal in the Fayette County Seat

Fayetteville, about 22 miles south of downtown Atlanta and roughly 10 miles from Peachtree City, has been the seat of Fayette County since its founding in 1822. Its 1825 courthouse on the town square is the oldest surviving courthouse in Georgia, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980, and the Holliday-Dorsey-Fife House dates from 1855. The city grew to 18,957 residents by 2020, and Trilith Studios, opened in 2014 as Pinewood Atlanta Studios, is now the largest film and TV studio in the country outside California.

Trees & Storms

Older Shade Trees and Newer Plantings

The two sides of Fayetteville bring different problems. Older shade trees near the square and in the established neighborhoods are the kind UGA Extension warns about: big trees with rot that starts at old pruning wounds, mushrooms or conks at the base, and forks with bark trapped between the stems. Newer subdivisions toward the county's edges tend to have the opposite trouble, a fast-growing ornamental like a Bradford pear, which UGA Extension lists among the weak-branched trees, splitting in its first big storm. Both are worth checking before summer storm season.

How We Help Fayetteville Homeowners

Typical Fayetteville jobs include a declining hardwood on an older lot, a split Bradford pear in a newer yard, and stumps left behind after a builder's clearing. Removal, trimming, and stump grinding go on one written estimate.

Local Tree Rules

Check With the City First

Fayetteville is the one city on our list where we couldn't confirm a homeowner rule: the city's code search returned no tree-removal provisions when we checked on September 28, 2026. That doesn't prove there isn't one, so before a large tree comes down, call Fayetteville Planning and Zoning and ask. If your subdivision has an HOA, read its covenants too, since they can be stricter than any city rule. Outside the city limits, Fayette County's development rules apply only when a plat, an erosion-control plan, or a site plan is involved.

A Crew Fayetteville Can Count On

From the Square to the Edges

Older streets near the courthouse and newer subdivisions toward the county line need different rigging and access plans, and the estimate is built around your lot, not an average.

Same County as Peachtree City

Fayetteville is about ten miles from Peachtree City in the same county, so the drive is short and the county rules are familiar ground.

Split Bradford Pears Taken Down

A Bradford pear with a split fork is a known weak point; taking it down before it drops onto a car or the roof is usually the cheaper job.
